This week we said an unexpected goodbye to Glenn Feldman, the coeditor of UAP’s “Modern South” series and the author or editor of six UAP titles, including Before Brown; Politics, Society, and the Klan in Alabama, 1915-1949; The Irony of the Solid South; and The Great Melding. Feldman died suddenly last week.
Glenn was a prolific writer, and his richly researched books and lively and pugnacious prose energized everyone who had the opportunity to work with him. The photo of Glenn above is one he submitted for the jacket of The Irony of the Solid South.
Glenn’s rousing writing style belied a warm-hearted temperament. Thoughtful, intelligent, and empathetic, Glenn enlightened and enlivened us. His many books will continue to speak for him.
